Submission & Correction Terms

These terms apply when you submit a correction, listing, update, source or other directory information to Maryland Local Guide.

Accuracy and review

By submitting information, you confirm that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you are not intentionally submitting false, misleading, unlawful, confidential, or abusive material.

Submissions are requests for review, not instructions to automatically change or publish content. Maryland Local Guide may verify information against first-party, official, public or other appropriate sources; edit for clarity and consistency; request additional information; reject a submission; or leave an existing listing unchanged.

Source-checking and status labels

“Source-checked” means key facts were compared against identified sources. It is not an endorsement, certification, warranty, license verification or guarantee of a business. Future “Owner-confirmed” or claimed status, if introduced, will be distinct from source-checking and likewise will not be a quality endorsement.

What not to submit

Do not submit passwords, payment-card data, government identification numbers, medical information, private disputes, or other sensitive personal information that is unnecessary for directory accuracy. The correction form is not an emergency service, legal-notice channel, or substitute for reporting urgent safety issues to the appropriate authority.

Sources and evidence

If you provide a source or evidence link, you authorize Maryland Local Guide to use it to evaluate the requested correction or submission. Factual information accepted into a public listing may be retained as part of the listing and its non-personal provenance history even after private submitter contact information is removed.

Publication and moderation

Submission does not guarantee publication, placement, ranking, response time or continued inclusion. Public listings may be corrected, updated, consolidated, unpublished or retired as information changes or as moderation requires.

Privacy and retention

Personal information submitted through correction, account or listing workflows is handled under the Maryland Local Guide Privacy Policy. Correction and submission data is not sold or automatically used to add a submitter to a marketing list.

Independent local resource

Maryland Local Guide is an independent local resource and is not affiliated with the State of Maryland or any county or municipal government.
